I think "pad" and "gasket" are the same thing, as the discussion around "gasket" in the conclusion matches the discussion around "pad" in the first section. Why did you translate the same Chinese word into two different English words?

翻譯回答==>
In this job, pad is described as "rail pad" in the Chinese term at the beginning; whereas in conclusion section, I do not know why the author is separating two subsection as "Causes of cracks in rail pads" and "causes of intermediate pad/gasket ruptures", so I decided to describe it as gasket whenever "intermediate" is mentioned.

Technically, pad and gasket are made of the same material, it is just that gasket has more voids than volumes in the design. The customer does not provide us the design, so we do not know how the layers are being assembled. On the safe side, I would prefer to ask the customer if there are two entities here.

編輯回答==>

Thanks. I feel translating the exact same term in the exact same contexts into two different terms only introduces confusion where none existed in the original text. It's easy to say "intermediate pad" instead without introducing new terminology. Anyway, I'll check it with the author.
